ORCA was created out of necessity.
We are peaceful by nature and dangerous by circumstance.
Things used to carry evidence of the people who made them.
That got engineered out;
first by volume, taking away the individual
then by speed, taking away the hand
and now by machine, removing the mind altogether.
ORCA is a design school and a guerrilla manufacturing company. The people who learn here make the work that leaves here. We use what already exists to make what doesn't, and nothing is made twice.
We exist to protect the integrity of the work and the people who make it. So we wrote it down; a charter covering how you join, what you're owed, and what happens if you go. Your name stays on your work permanently, a hand woven directly in to the product.
Most things you want already exist. If what you want doesn't, that's what we're for. Tell us what should be in the world and we'll put it there.
We build from Buffalo & the work travels accordingly.
